We started off the new year right by hosting brunch for friends, and Mel made a delicious meal! Front and center: cheddar and onion scones … so good!

What a treat to light all 9 candles of the menorah on the 8th night of Hanukah on New Year’s Eve with two of our dearest friends, before sitting down to a delicious fondue dinner!

We hit some bad weather on the drive back from Montreal, and decided to wait it out at a lovely hotel in Burlington, Vermont. We had a very pleasant day reading by the fire, then drove home on clear roads the next day. 

Most of Montreal’s Botanical Gardens were under a few inches of snow, but their greenhouses were open, and we had a magical afternoon wandering through the various fairy tale lands with gorgeous colors, textures, sounds and smells.
